Petit Jean Farm
Weekly Farm Newsletter

Dear Folks,

The birds are chirping and the sheep are grazing on this nice sunny summer morning.  How disappointing that we didn’t have such good weather for market this past weekend.  We are at market, rain or shine, though.  You don’t have to wonder whether the weather will keep us away – it won’t.

The only weekend we won’t physically be at the farmers’ markets will be August 14 and 15.  We will, however, participate in the online markets that week, so be sure to take advantage of those.  This coming weekend, we will be there as usual.

Farming Magazine has a very good article in this summer’s issue in which farmer and author Wendell Berry discusses the love of farming.  We already know the importance of leaping lambs, but he points out that this should be a matter of national concern.  Only one or two percent of the American population is farming, and the numbers are only going down.  We shouldn’t forget that “agriculture may be a good thing for a nation of eaters to have.”

Show your support for farming by placing an order this week by phone (501-727-5714), by e’mail (ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com), or online.  You can visit our website to see our latest available products at www.petitjeanfarm.com/farminventory.html.

We look forward to seeing you at the market, whatever the weather!
