Weekly Farm Newsletter

Dear Folks,

Cooler days and nights with red and orange leaves covering the ground means fall is here!  While growing up, one of the telltale signs of fall was the cleaning of the copper kettle and freshly picked apples for a day of making apple butter.  It’s an opportunity to cook the preferred way - slow and with friends and family.  Apple butter over an open fire in a copper kettle takes just about all day.  It’s a time for everyone to gather around the kettle to share stories and memories.  You can join this cherished time with us this Saturday at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute’s Farmstead just a short distance from our farm.  Activities begin at 9:00 A.M.  There will be signs to lead you right to the location.  We hope to see you there!

You can find the Farmstead by following directions starting on Hwy. 9 in Oppelo.

Turn onto Highway 154 West and travel 7.3 miles to the top of Petit Jean Mountain.
At the top, turn right at Winrock Drive and continue 4 miles.
When you come to a closed gate, turn left onto Montgomery Trace and go one mile.
Take a right onto Rockefeller Drive at the rock sign and continue one mile until you reach another rock sign.
Yield to the right and travel straight until you arrive at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute.
Bear right and continue through a small parking lot following the sign that will lead down a lane to the right.  The Farmstead will be on the right, parking on the left.

Meanwhile our participation in making apple butter means all Hot Springs orders need to be made prior to Thursday, noon so orders can be delivered on Friday, October 9 Transportation Plaza 11:30-1:00
Carmona Center 1:00-2:00.

Little Rock and Conway deliveries will remain the same.

We can still fill your orders for bulk beef, lamb and pork.  Get your freezers stocked up for the winter.

Also, it’s not too early to be thinking about Thanksgiving.  As usual, you can always order holiday hams (smoked or fresh) but this year we have a few smoked turkeys available also.

Your orders can be made by noon on Thursday by calling us at 501-727-5659 or emailing ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com.  To check our available inventory, visit our website at http://www.petitjeanfarm.com/FarmInventory.html.  You can also use your favorite locallygrown.net online market.
