Petit Jean Farm
Weekly Farm Newsletter
January 25, 2010
Dear Folks,

This is not supposed to be happening!

Most people would say that farmers' markets don't operate all that well in the middle of winter.  Petit Jean Farm customers certainly are proving themselves unique this way also.  We appreciate your great support right through the winter…ESPECIALLY in this normally slower period.

There are a few 50/50 Specials left now, so get your orders in this week if you would like to try one -- or -- if you are ready for a second one.

It looks like there will be sheep milk cheese available now.  Feedback on samples has been excellent so we will have a small supply on hand at each pick up site.

The weather has slowed us down just a little on getting bulk orders ready.  But for anyone wishing to stock up on 1/4, 1/2, or whole beef, pork, or lamb, we should be set to go in early February.

I am just finishing one of the most shocking books I have ever read - and I read a lot!  It's called THE CANCER INDUSTRY by Dr. Ralph Moss.  Information presented in this very thick book was compiled over a long period of time (approximately 1974 on).  I am afraid my own areas of cynicism are expanding rapidly as I learn more of what happens behind the scenes.

Certainly, we are all on the right track though in paying attention to what we eat.  Maybe you will enjoy the quote from Dr. William Sears who is a cancer survivor about what he eats:

"foods that grow in fields,
swim in the sea,
run on the land,
and
spend very little time in factories."

Our schedule for Downtown Hot Springs is 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Transportation Plaza.  The Village Community Market remains the same, meeting on Fridays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M.  Our new location at the Messianic Synagogue on Hwy. 7 in Russellville is 1:30 to 2:30 on Wednesday.  The Locally Grown websites operating this week are Little Rock and VCM.

Orders for Russellville need to be in by 5:00 P.M on Monday.  Orders for the Hot Springs and Little Rock need to be made by noon on Thursday by calling us at 501-727-5659 or emailing ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com.  To check our available inventory, visit our website at http://www.petitjeanfarm.com/FarmInventory.html.
