Dear Folks,

They weren't there very long, but sure enough, fresh red tomatoes were out on the neighbor's market table last Friday.

Saturday then, you guessed it, was my first BLT of the season.  Fresh tomatoes, thick, juicy, homegrown bacon, homemade bread…you can imagine…a regular love story!

We like this season because we have lots of homegrown bacon, both freshside and smoked, ready to go.  Remember, CSA Food Cardholders get 25% off on bacon and chickens during these first few weeks of tomatoes.

Bacon is the secret to home-style Southern cooking - the can of bacon drippings on the stove, and the bacon in a pot of greasy greens.  We are doing our best to make this now - and  - then indulgence sound healthy.  Just remember this is not your ordinary factory farm bacon.

One last completely irresistible footnote.  It was such a pleasant evening Saturday that after dark I took a short hike up the road.  The peepers were chirping again…that makes the second time so far.  Enough said on that subject.

Our schedule for Downtown Hot Springs is 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Transportation Plaza.  The Village Community Market remains the same, meeting on Fridays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M.  Our new location at the Messianic Synagogue on Hwy. 7 in Russellville is 1:30 to 2:30 on Wednesday.  The Locally Grown websites operating this week are Little Rock and VCM.
