Dear Folks,
If the Farmers’ Markets were a Monopoly board, how many pieces have you collected? Wherever you go to market – Conway, ASN, Spa City, Carmona Center – we encourage you to try new foods from the variety of vendors you’ll find.
For those of you in or near Hot Springs Village, we’ve made this even easier for you. For those of you farther away, this would be a great reason to make a trip to Hot Springs. Don’t miss “A Taste of the Farmers’ Market” at the Carmona Center, Friday, April 24. We farmers want to say thank you to the Hot Springs Village community for inviting us in. This direct link between farmers and customers at the Village Community Market is something worth celebrating. The event on the 24th is a wonderful opportunity to sample products from Petit Jean Farm, Falling Sky Farm, Stutzman’s Pantry, Hill’s Plants, Pat’s Candles & Crafts, McKendra’s Kitchen, Best Baked Bread, and other vendors. In addition to getting a taste of the delicious and beautiful products from individual farmers and artisans, you’ll get to experience the Village Community Market itself. Let us know if you’ve ever seen another market set up like this one. It combines a traditional outdoor market (every Friday, 3-5 pm), the permanent presence of an indoor market (open Wed-Sat, 10 am – 3 pm), and an online market (www.village.locallygrown.net). Can buying locally get any easier, more fun, or more direct?
As part of the Taste of the Market celebration, we will be doubling the Amish quotient by welcoming Christy Miller and his homemade ice cream. Watching him make the ice cream on site with an antique engine will be almost as much fun as eating the results! If you have roots on the farm, you’ll recognize the sounds of the hit or miss engine that was the first source of power on farms across the country. Christy has also committed to coming to market throughout the month of May, so you can plan on a homemade ice cream highlight every week.
Be sure to get in on the party early by sending your order by noon on Thursday by phone (501-727-5659), by e’mail (ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com), or online. You can check our latest inventory online at www.petitjeanfarm.com/farminventory.html. This Friday, April 24, we will be at the Transportation Plaza in downtown Hot Springs from noon to 1:00 and at the Carmona Center in Hot Springs Village from 3:00 to 5:00.
Happy Tasting!
