Petit Jean Farm
Dear Folks,
April and its showers are almost over.  May is upon us and with it leaping lambs, first cut hay, and farmers’ markets!  Some of the markets started last week and some have been going all winter, but all will be open this weekend, May 1 & 2.  This means changes for our schedule at Petit Jean Farm, so be sure to pay attention to the new agenda so we don’t miss you.

Little Rock:  We will continue with ASN as usual.  Also, we will be going to the River Market Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.  To make sure you get what you want, we encourage you to keep ordering ahead through ASN.

Conway:  Our products will continue to be available through conway.locallygrown.net, and we look forward to more frequent summer pick-up days.

Hot Springs Village:  We will continue to bring pre-orders and extras to the Village Community Market at the Carmona Center, Fridays, 3:00-5:00 pm.  Because we are servicing even more markets during the summer, it is even more important that you place an order ahead.  Don’t just wait for what’s left!

Hot Springs:  This is the place with the most changes.  We will be at the Historic Downtown Farmers’ Market at the Transportation Plaza on Saturdays, from 6:00-11:00 am.  We will not be making a delivery on Fridays.  You should still place your order ahead, and now you’ll have even more time to pick it up:  6-11 am on Saturday.  Just don’t forget to place your order, and don’t forget to pick it up!  The Spa City Co-op online farmers’ market will continue as usual.

Everyone can order online, by phone (501-727-5659), or by e’mail (ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com).  Be sure to place your orders by noon on Thursday, April 30 at the latest.  Check our most recent inventory list online at www.petitjeanfarm.com/farminventory.html.

Do you know what a “box social” is?  We’ll add a free fudge to your order if you are the first person to e’mail in your order for this weekend and include a convincing description of a box social.  Use the honor system – don’t cheat and google it!  We want to see if you actually know about box socials.  Next week, we’ll let you know if we had a winner.

The lambs continue to leap and lift their voices joyfully.  Saturday’s load of hay is perfuming the whole farm.  A new market season is off to a great start.  Online markets have increased how we are able to get products to people, but we are definitely looking forward to more face to face time that we get in traditional farmers’ markets.

Bring on those May flowers!
