Dear Folks,
An old family friend and recent dinner guest was talking lately about growing up in the 1930s. He knows now that times were hard, but he says he didn’t really notice then. His family was just like everyone else he knew. The food they ate certainly wasn’t gourmet; it wasn’t even interesting. He was fortunate, though, that they never went hungry. He lived on a farm where they grew corn and kept a garden and once a year would butcher a steer.
Are you ready to lay in your family’s supply of beef? This is your chance to stock your freezer and plan to feast on gourmet quality meat at the same time. Place your order for a quarter this week. Buying in bulk like this maximizes the meat for your money. If you would like mostly steak, you can specify that you want a hind quarter. If you are short on freezer space but are still interested, be sure to let us know. Also, consider a beef variety pack. This offers the advantages of ordering a quarter of beef, but on a smaller scale. Normally, a variety pack is a sampler of all three meats (beef, pork, and lamb), but we can tailor it to your preferences. Just ask us if you want more details!
We will need your weekly orders by noon on Thursday, June 11. You can place an order by calling 501-727-5659, e’mailing ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com, or ordering online through one of the locally grown sites. You can also see our most recent inventory at www.petitjeanfarm.com/farminventory.html.
We’ll see you at the market!
