Petit Jean Farm
Weekly Farm Newsletter
August 31, 2009
Dear Folks,
The seasons are changing, and so are things here at Petit Jean Farm.  This is Jacqueline Martsolf, the voice of the farm for the past few years.  I am moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, this week.  I have enjoyed giving you a glimpse of what happens here on the farm.  I’m glad many of you have enjoyed following the updates.  It’s good to hear your feeback – the positive and the negative too.  We like having a relationship with you, our customers, and we want to be responsive to your needs.

With me away, we are changing our e’mail updates.  Now you’ll get to hear from even more of the Petit Jean Farm team.  I’ll still write in from afar.  As they say, you can take the girl off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the girl.  You will also hear from Ed Martsolf, my dad and the mastermind of the farm.  He has been raising sheep for about thirty years and cattle since even before that.  Most of his experience with pigs, however, has been in training them to perform tricks!  Carrie Scott, my cousin, is the person you’re most likely to talk to if you call or stop by the farm.  She also makes all the delicious honey products.  I don’t see how she does it without eating all the honey fudge.  Jenni Martsolf, my mom, is the person you should ask if you need meat cooking advice.  She also especially likes the sheep.  I’m told when I was born people were afraid she wouldn’t think I was cute if I arrived without a tail!

Don’t forget to place your bulk orders for half and whole orders of beef, pork, and lamb.  We are taking orders now for September and October.  The sooner you get your order in, the more choice you have in what selection you get!

You can place your order for this week by noon on Thursday by calling 501-727-5659 or e’mailing ed@gatewayfarm-ar.com.  To check our available inventory, visit our website at www.petitjeanfarm.com/farminventory/html.  You can also use your favorite locallygrown.net online market.

I wish you all a great week at market!

Jacqueline
